Smörgåsbaren

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN

Smörgåsbaren is a food bar serving exclusive fusion sandwiches in harmony with a diverse range of drinks and beers in a relaxed and professional environment. The concept of the interior is following the line of simplicity. Located in the city center of Gothenburg, Sweden, it’s placed in an old, historical building from the 17th century. Existing conditions of the space are enhanced, original ornaments freshened up, and walls simply re-painted white. With an approximate size of 50 m2, the interior is very simple; the 10-meter food-bar with its thick top of zinc is stretched along the whole room facing the street. The bar-overhang following the bar creates a chandelier lighting up space. All loose furniture is made out of concrete, steel, and leather, a palette with material transforming well over time.
